Your
virtual Frog's pet's statistics (age, hunger, health and
happiness) update each time you play the game. The
amount of change is based on how long it has been since
you last accessed the game.
AGE
increases by 1 per day. Age is only an indicator of how
long the current pet has been cared for, and has no
active input to the game's calculations. There is not a
coded life span. In theory, they could live forever.
HUNGER
is incremented 32 per day. If hunger is greater than 99,
your pet will die of hunger. Assuming your pet's hunger
value starts at 0, the virtual Frog can live unattended
for 3 days without starving.
HEALTH
decreases by 12 per day. If health is less than 1, your
pet will die from ill health. Health is only a threat
when it is ignored.
HAPPINESS
is decremented 24 per day. If happiness is less than 1,
your pet will die from sadness. While it is not as
crucial as hunger, a lack of happiness poses a more
severe threat than does ill health.
DEATH
If your pet dies, notice if it says "{your pet} is
dead". If it does, the numbers in the data fields
should indicate why it died.
If it just goes to the adoption screen, your cookie is
probably disappearing from your hard drive.
All of the data about your virtual pet is stored in a
cookie file on your computer, not the internet. If that
file cannot be accessed when you log in to the virtual
pet game, the program will assume you are not a virtual
pet owner and ask you to choose a new pet. Some common
causes of "lost cookie syndrome" are:
-
programs
that periodically clean cookies
-
programs
that delete cookies
-
using
a different internet browser
-
using
a different Netscape User configuration
-
using
a different computer
-
not
logging in for 7 days
TIPS
Your Frog requires a variety of food to fend off hunger.
Your Frog must be both clean and healthy.
Frog's love to win at games, but hate to lose.
Care for your Frog every day. Under the best of
circumstances it can only last 3 days without being
cared for.
Care for your Frog fully -- keep hunger at 0 and health
and happiness at 100.
If
you have trouble playing this game, make sure you are
using either Netscape 3.0+ or Internet Explorer 4.0+,
have javascript enabled and can accept cookies.
